AGIA ANNA

We drive clean energy in Cyprus with the Agia Anna wind farm

With a total installed capacity of 20 megawatts (MW), it generates enough energy to supply the equivalent of approximately 6,200 homes in Cyprus each year.

In 2010 Rokas Renewables (C. Rokas S.A.), being already full subsidiary of Iberdrola Renewables, aligned with DY & Sons on Cyprus and created Rokas Aeoliki Cyprus Ltd to build “Agia Anna” wind farm with capacity 20MW in Larnaca area.

For the installation of this wind farm, accompanying works were also carried out: improvement of access to the wind farm roads, construction of internal roads with a total length of 7.5 km and a 20/132 kV electrical substation. These projects contribute to the upgrading of the infrastructure of local communities and the country in general.

The wind farm consists of 10 wind turbines of 2 MW each and is one of the six (6) wind farms operating on the island.

It generates enough electricity to cover, on average, the annual needs of 6,200 households providing additional returns, as it is estimated that the communities where the Wind Farm is installed receive approximately €100,000 per year through the support mechanism provided by the Cypriot law.

It also saves CO2 emissions equal to those emitted by 4,000 medium engine displacement vehicles commuting daily round trip distance from Larnaca to Nicosia for one year.

“Agia Anna” wind farm is an investment that reinforces Cyprus' strategic efforts in the context of its environmental commitments within the European Union and contributes to the country's energy sufficiency.
